Watch Luffy and Doflamingo Duke It Out In One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X

Ganbarion’s upcoming title One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X will feature a bunch of characters, from the Mugiwara crew to their enemies. The game’s latest video shows us a tag-team battle of Luffy going up against Doflamingo.

The above trailer shows what a tag team match-up looks like between Luffy and Law against Doflamingo and one of his top three officers in Trebol.

The fight starts out with Luffy striking first blood, followed by a tag team attack between him and Law. He even manages to land a Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk against Doflamingo, who seems to have no problem defending himself against the duo.

Law can use his Room ability, but it doesn’t look like he can simply just chop up body parts of his enemies. As shown in the video, Trebol and Dollamingo have some of their trademark moves.

Luffy and Law also pull off a tag team special attack, followed by Luffy’s super special attack, Gomu Gomu no Elephant Storm, which gets its own little cut-scene.

One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X is slated for release in Japan on November 13, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS. You can also check out our earlier report to get another look at the game’s tag-team features.

    • RagingTiger44

Only thing missing is unique throws.

  • Hagaren

This is Akainu’s voice actor narrating. Imagine Akainu watching the fight and getting super hype at everything!

    • Money?Muney??All my luveee!!!

Hell, Akainu himself is in the game. Ready ur body for Magma explosion lol.

  • Göran Isacson

Kinda like the way they’ve designed the big supers here, with the character going “off-stage” and unleashing attacks at a distance. Feels like a good compromise between the limitations of the stage design and the “big” impression of attacks that demolish whole buildings in the manga. Though I wonder how they intend to balance massive attacks that let you hurt others while the attacker is completely immune…

  • MaskedHeroxx

    I want it

  • Tijani Palmer

I conclude that this game must have a worldwide release, so that we can make a competitive scene for it and I will main(if he’s in the game) PTS Luffy and Chopper.

  • Money?Muney??All my luveee!!!

That Akainu as commentator, that disgusting snot chain, that Flamingo super string attack, that Luffy new special. AHhhhhhhhhhhhh . I want this game so much.T_T

  • kliskur

Man.. This is so much like the Grand battle 2 I used to to play on PSX.. So good.. This is how OP battle game should look like.

  • Slayven19

This game looks fast, I’m liking it more already. I’m sure this will get a Western release since namco has been good lately.

    • Based Ignacio Puppo

We’ve been getting a ton of OP games lately(Unlimited World Red, Pirate Warriors), and we did get Grand Battle 1 and the Grand Adventure(Exclusive for USA!) back in the PS2 days…. maybe… maybe we’ll get this one ;_:. Hopefully.

  • FTM

Maybe it’s because I’ve never followed the One Piece series, but I’m not seeing what you guys are?

It looks slow, as though it’s very limited in animation. It’s making me think of J-Stars Victory Vs, which maybe is an unfair comparison but it seems alike— the entire fight is based on long, flashy basic combos that are “Block-or-Die,” there seems to be some invincibility when the character stands up, and while it all “looks” good it just doesn’t seem like there’s much in this that will justify an actual game. Solid fan-service? Probably. But at this point, with how often gameplay has been sacrificed for fan-service, I think the “Desire” spectrum should majorly point towards a good game.

I don’t know. Just the black-sheep here, but I’m really not sure what I’m missing, or if I should go read 500+ manga and then come back? :P

    • Hero

You’re not alone. The animation in One Piece isn’t super great to begin with. So with the 3DS’ already lackluster res it’s going to be ok at best.
As for gameplay…I looks maybe repetitive but satisfying. There are a lot of brawlers like that. I’m not so sure what you mean by “desire spectrum” but don’t let anyone force you to read a 500+ series that drags on at times.

      • HarakiriKami

People need to stop going on and on about resolution. Its really not that big of a factor in terms of image quality unless you’re using a big ass screen.

        • Hero

Did you just say It’s not really a big factor in terms of image quality? Resolution literally IS image quality. Big or small, I’d like to have more dots on my screen please.

          • HarakiriKami

Let me put it to you like this. Games look better on a CRT than they do on an HDTV for a reason. Downsample images look better too

          • Hero

Hmmm….good point. Unfortunately not many people know about that. Great point though.

  • animefreakhq

Platinum games should make a One Piece game that can stand on its own.

I want to see the 4 player battle to compared it with Smash Bros

One Piece version of Smash Bros … even the idea have made me feel excited

  • Loco4Divas

I hope this game gets a western release like Romance Dawn, Unlimited World R and Pirate Warriors 1 and 2! Maybe Spring or Summer 2015.
