Tales of the World: Reve Unitia, the Tales spin-off title that brought characters from different games into a strategy RPG, was released recently in Japan, and the game’s first batch of DLC adds some fun content for fans of the series. Famitsu shares more on what’s included.

The main attraction from the set of DLC is called the “Gift from a Strange Dream”. A mysterious package suddenly showed up in Lufres, which contained strange clothes and a hat inside, which reeked of Vule.

In order to protect the town from danger, the characters will have to step up to the challenge behind the mystery. While it sounds pretty serious, the scenario is said to be a comical one, which also includes a special event illustration map.

The report also notes that these events aren’t fully-voiced, and you’ll need to advance through a certain part of the game in order to take on the DLC event. It’ll cost 432 yen for the scenario alone. The following characters have a role in the story: Lloyd Irving, Luke fone Fabre, Tear Grants, Guy Cecil, Flynn Scifo, Asbel Lhant, and Sophie.

Additionally, there are also DLC with maps that help level your characters, one for the early stages of the game, which will be free until November 6, and 270 yen after.

The other one will have a map that helps you level mid-level characters for 387 yen, and finally, one that is used to help raise GALD for 387 yen.

Still hoping for a localization. Even if chances are slim.

      Let us pray to Maxwell.

      • Spirit Macardi

This takes place in a dream world though; you need to pray to Claire!

Guy in close proximity to girls he just met.

    Is this real life? :D

Japan got this game twice and we didn’t get it even once. I guess I shouldn’t be losing hope yet, after all Bamco never planned to bring Tales of Hearts R outside of Japan either.

“The main attraction from the set of DLC is

showed up in Lufres, which contained strange clothes and a hat inside”

… That hat wouldn’t happen to be a blue baseball cap with a Pac-Man emblem would it? It seriously has to be, since the term “Strange Dream” was used to refer to the wearer of said hat!

    • I wouldn’t think too hard on it, sadly. Dream is already in the title of the game itself, so it may be completely unrelated. Here’s to hoping though!

Look at the game so far though, it’s a GIGANTIC Klonoa reference: Taking place in a dream world, heroes brought in that have their memories wiped, accompanied by floating sprites that can change into humanoid forms.

Oh, and one sprite is named “Nahato,” which is not only a few letters away from Nahatomb, but was also Nahatomb’s original name in Legend of the Star Medal before he turned evil.

        • Even though I do agree that it all feels like one giant reference and I assume it’s also intentional, Bamco haven’t been very gung-ho lately about showing Klonoa even the tiniest hint of love or attention; it would be nice if they suddenly decided to, but I can’t imagine they would decide to with this game, kind of out of the blue.

Tales Studio though are admitted fans of the little guy, and they have some autonomy for the most part. It’d also hardly be the first time they threw a reference in to the series.

Am I the only one thinking this is kinda… Bad?

    Sounds worse than FE:A DLC…

    • British_Otaku

Not the only one, Bandai Namco did this for One Piece Unlimited World Red last year. Not surprised that their 3DS adaptation of a mobile game continues the trend, sort of glad that I’m not importing this one.

SD Gundam G Generation 3D will be my SRPG of choice for the platform for a while.

Dude, buy Super Robot Taisen UX, it is pure gold.

  • I want this so bad *n*

  • Kornelious

Huh, these remind me a lot of the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC stages……Which just like FE, if this game ever gets localized (Which it should!) I will likely buy all of X)

Though since there is DLC….Maybe there is a chance they will introduce new characters….Like Jude! :D
