Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has been working on a Pikmin animated film project, and these short films are being made available for purchase via the Nintendo eShop today.

The movies will cost $4.99. On the Nintendo 3DS, you’ll be able to watch them in 3D, while on Wii U, you’ll be able to watch them in high-definition.

Additionally, Nintendo have released a demo for Pikmin 3 for the Nintendo eShop for Wii U. You’ll be able to transfer data from the demo to the full game, too.

I was hopping they are free actually…

    • Pedro Tavares

Same, no worries Piratebay will have it for free.

      • Namuro

Man. just imagine if Miyamoto-san sees this comment…

        • Bacon_n_Lettuce

For every pirated Pikmin movie, Miyamoto sheds a single tear.

As much as I wanna support this, £4.49 for something that’s only 20 minutes total is a bit steep for me.

  • Namuro

I’m just crazy about 3D stuff, so I’ll get the 3DS version for sure!

  • Fronkhead

I’ll probably give these a go. I like how Nintendo allow Miyamoto to do what he wants, and Pikmin 3 was an overlooked gem of a game.

  • Kalis Konig

I love pikmin but I don’t see myself buying these shorts.

  • Blue_Falcon

Has it been said how long the shorts run for?

  • Fronkhead

Apparently these have just gone up on YouTube. Sweet.

  • Money?Muney??All my luveee!!!

    Sooo cuteee.^_^

I really liked this kind of shorts.^_^ Makes me remember the old classic Kirby anime there.^_^

  • I’m not a fan of Pikmin, but seriously – wtf?

Do they not realize they have that Nintendo Video app thingy? I know the answer already is, “No”; that thing seems like the biggest waste of time, I swear. But at least they put out their other Nintendo ‘toons on that service for free (in the rare events they even made them); Aardman’s Zelda: Wind Waker b&w Flipnote Studio shorts, Production IG’s Kid Icarus project, and the CG Kirby: Right Back at Ya cartoon mini-eps.

For an app called, “Nintendo Video”, you’d figure they would want to keep putting out videos based on Nintendo games for that thing. Not, I dunno, music videos? WWE Slam City shorts? *sigh*

“To hell with free videos on the Nintendo Video App, let’s charge them!!” – Nintendo :P
