Final Fantasy Explorers Shows What Tifa, Aerith, And The Thief Can Do

By Spencer . November 24, 2014 . 1:43am

Final Fantasy Explorers lets players transform into heroes from past games. You can morph into Tifa from Final Fantasy VII equipped with her ultimate weapon, the Premium Heart gloves, and use her Final Heaven limit break against enemies.

Aerith from Final Fantasy VII can restore HP and clear negative status effects with Great Gospel, one of her limit breaks from the game.

Cecil from Final Fantasy IV uses Double Phase, an attack that blends both his light and dark sides that comes from Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Vaan has his Luminescence Quickening from Final Fantasy XII.

Final Fantasy Explorers also brings back many familiar jobs from the series like Thief which was from the first Final Fantasy game. Thief has the ability to steal items from monsters and a skill that reduces the amount of AP consumed while dashing so you can run longer. Surprise Attack is a quick strike with a high critical rate. Chaos Trip inflicts poison and burn statues that sap HP from a target.

Chemists are item masters. Just like other Final Fantasy games, when Chemists use items their effects are more potent. Another helpful ability is Chemists can use an item like a potion without consuming it. The downside is this skill has a long cooldown period, but sounds like this skill will be helpful once you have some elixirs. Chemists are designed to be support characters, but can also act as long range fighters when equipped with a gun.

Would prefer the thief and chemist to use the FF Tactics style/costume. Sadly FFT never really exist in these SE crossover/referencing games…

    • Rafael Martines

Final Fantasy Tactics… I miss it in HD… with trophies… online Co-Op and PvP… damn it Squenix

    • JustThisOne

With any luck, you’ll get Ramza for Onion Knight job or something, haha.

I actually like the costumes as they are now though. *__* If the thief gets to equip different masks, I’ll be so amazed. Batman, here I come!

    • Justin Graham

Tactics is referenced in Theatrhythm: Curtain Call with songs and characters.

  • Espoir

  • Kaitsu

I got excited for a bit when I saw “Nintendo DS” as the label. But it was a mislabel. I don’t own a 3DS yet. :c

    • Money?Muney??All my luveee!!!

Go get urself a 2DS or at least for New 3DS there.^_^

The library is getting stronger and stronger each day here.^_^

      • Kaitsu

I’m actually waiting for the New 3DS to come out here, so I can decide whether to get a 3DS XL or just the New 3DS, because the New 3DS is priced lower than the current 3DS XL anyway. Price drops are going to happen big time.

  • Ragna

I would see Shanttoto ohohoho Chainspell + Manafront XD

  • Money?Muney??All my luveee!!!

Wahhhh that Chemist looks good lol.^_^

Also it sounds OP with Elixir spam lol.

  • Namuro

I quite like the Thief costume!

  • Justin Graham

Oh, Tifa looks fantastic in this art style!

  • Chibi Tifa is just too cuddly~ >w<

    • Dascylus

      And still perfectly proportioned.

  • J_Joestar

    Thief’s headgear looks really weird…

  • Reiswindy

When I saw the Thief, I instantly thought of the Al-Bhed for some reason…

  • Yan Zhao

lol Vaan, the worthless protagonist character that nobody would ever transform into.

    • LOL I remember playing the story mode in duodecim and I was like ‘WTF?! this character’s skills are all weapons?”

    • animefreakhq

He deals the strongest physical attack. I’d say he’s far from worthless.

      • Yan Zhao

A worthless character thats completely irrelevant to the plot that he was in that didnt do anything within that plot other than a mere tag along. Yep, worthless.

        • animefreakhq

You insinuated that he is worthless in the game in terms of bringing productiveness in the party. I do agree that Vaan had little to do with the plot progression, but it was refreshing to see world building.

    • I would. I liked Vaan as a protagonist, or non-protagonist/player avatar.

So speak for yourself and others that agree with you, not EVERYONE.

    • SerChief

Sometimes you need worthless characters to make everyone else look good.

    • Daigure

Eh, people wouldn’t hate Vaan nearly as much if he was a supporting character. About fifteen hours into the game, that’s what he becomes anyway.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

vaan…. I rather be Lightning and thats saying something

  • SetzerGabbiani

Thief wil be my main class, I can already tell.

  • Aerith has huge hips, kupo. One would only wonder how many babies can come from that factory.

  • SerChief

Tiny Cecil!! I know who I’m transforming into :)

  • Vash bane

magic , guns , swords , bows and all other kind of stuff…seems collectors will have their hands full with this game.
