Destiny 2 Gets New Footage And Info On Its PC Version, Which Will Be Partnered With Blizzard

Bungie had a lot to show for Destiny 2 during their recent livestream event, where they showcased plenty of footage as well as new info on the game’s activities, multiplayer, and PC version.

Destiny 2 will take us to four new worlds to explore with new features: European Dead Zone, Titan, Nessus, and Io. The game offers “Adventures” as short missions to tell players more about the universe and characters of Destiny 2. There are also “Lost Sectors” which are dungeons found across the world with unique loot-guarding bosses. “Public Events” will also be available as events that happen on the fly while roaming the world that you can take on with up to nine other players.

Similar to the first Destiny, you’ll have three-player missions in Strikes and the six-player Raids. The biggest change comes from the PvP mode, The Crucible, which will now feature 4v4 battles. The first game had 3v3 and 6v6 PvP modes, but it comes as no big surprise to see the Halo creators go back to familiar grounds with the 4v4 battles.

The Crucible will also add a new competitive mode called “Countdown” that will have players start out on either Offense or Defense, which then gets swapped for each round. While on Offense you’ll be the ones attempting to plant a bomb on the enemy base. You’ll be the ones preventing that from happening on Defense. First team to six wins in this mode.

One of the biggest surprises comes from Activision’s partnership with its sister company Blizzard Entertainment for the PC version of Destiny 2, which will be available exclusively on Battle.net, making it the first third-party title to appear on Blizzard’s platform.

Here are the details we know so far about Destiny 2 on PC:

  • 4k Resolution Support (3820×2160)
  • Uncapped framerate
  • Full mouse and keyboard support with custom keyboard mapping
  • Text chat
  • Adjustable Field of View
  • Detailed PC settings screen
  • 21:9 monitor support

On Blizzard’s official website, the company shared that their focus in terms of supporting non-Blizzard games is solely around Destiny 2 and they currently have no other short- or long-term plans to support other third-party titles on Battle.net.

Destiny 2 releases worldwide on September 8, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version will launch later than on consoles with a launch date set to be announced in the coming weeks.
