The official 8Bitdo website has updated and revealed new functionality for its controllers. When someone downloads the latest 4.0 firmware and applies it to any of the 8Bitdo FC30, FC30 Pro, NES30, NES30 Pro, SFC30, or SNES30 controllers, they will work with Nintendo Switch systems running firmware 1.0.0 through 2.2.0. This means people have another wireless controller option for the Nintendo Switch.
This does mean downloading and updating the firmware on your 8Bitdo controller. To download the firmware, you will need to visit the corresponding FC30, NES30, SFC30, and SNES30 support pages. You will then need to be sure your controller is charged. Once it is and you are near a PC, press Start+L+R on it for about three seconds until the LEDs are flashing. You then connect it to your computer and run the update software and choose the newly downloaded firmware file to perform the update.
8Bitdo controllers work with the Nintendo Switch, PCs, and Apple iOS and Android devices.
