Disaster Report Creator’s New Title Keeps The Theme From The Unreleased Disaster Report 4

Irem originally planned to release Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories, but after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami, it was delayed and eventually canceled. Series creator Kazuma Kujo started his company Granzella, and acquired the rights to the franchise. He recently spoke of the series’ future in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]

During the interview, Kujo expressed his desire to revive the series, and says that he has plans to official announce something for it this fall.

For his next title, he says that the theme and its summer setting will stay in tact from the original game he worked on with Irem, but he also feels that Granzella will need to implement more updated technology for the next installment.

Kujo also mentioned that he’d like to add online elements in the upcoming game, where players can leave hints, danger notices, and valuable items in areas so that it can help out players who are new to the area.

For the time being, we don’t know what platform the future title will be on, but Kujo asks fans to wait just a little longer, and that he’ll reveal more information on it this fall.

He also briefly talked about new titles for Steambot Chronicles and R-TYPE.

“Even during the latest announcement, I was asked ‘so when’s the Steambot Chronicles sequel going to happen?’ We have strong feelings [for those titles], but as for now, I can only promise you guys Disaster Report.”
