Sony has announced the native PlayStation Store for the PlayStation Portable will be closing on March 31, 2016 in North America. This means that people will be unable to access the PlayStation Store from their PlayStation Portables, though it will still be possible to make in-game purchases on the handheld.

In the announcement, Sony confirmed that PlayStation Portable content will still be available to purchase through the browser-based PlayStation Store. It also said that past purchases will be able to be downloaded from the PlayStation Portable’s Download List.

It is possible to transfer data between the PlayStation Portable and a Windows PC or PlayStation 3. With a PC transfer, someone must download Sony’s MediaGo software and connect the handheld to the computer via a USB cable. With the PlayStation 3, you make sure you are logged into the same account on both the console and the handheld, connect the PlayStation Portable via a USB cable, then copy data.

Sony worldwide shipments of the PlayStation Portable ended in 2014.
