You don’t need to play the original to enjoy this thrilling hack-and-slash RPG adventure about two androids on a quest to save humanity. This port works and looks so much better than it should. It offers excellent gameplay and a surprising story with numerous endings.
Best Port for The Legend of Zelda Fans: Skyward Sword HD
Zelda fans certainly have plenty of games to play on Switch, but the Skyward Sword port represents the best way to play this Wii title. It contains the motion controls from the original, but also a more standard control scheme as well. Plus, it aged like fine wine with its colorful art style and brilliant relationship between Link and Zelda.
Best Port for Those Who Never Owned a Wii U: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe feels like one of several system sellers on Switch. It takes the Wii U’s already excellent game and adds on top of it with all DLC included. Plus, this version received its own expansion pass with tracks from throughout the history of the kart-racing series.
Best Port for Value: Mega Man X Legacy Collection
There are several collections of retro titles on the Switch but one of my favorites is the Mega Man X Legacy Collection. Players get the early titles from this action platforming series, which for me, represent the height of the franchise. Players have the option to buy this collection in two parts or one massive bundle with eight excellent titles starring Zero.
Best Port for RPG Fans: Persona 5 Royal
For my fellow RPG fans out there, look no further than Persona 5 Royal. This masterpiece definitive version of the monumental Atlus JRPG has all the unbelievable content from the base game plus the extraordinary third semester and new characters. I stand by that the Persona series works best in a handheld format, and this port nails it.
