At the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo, Square Enix revealed two new jobs that will be introduced in the Heavensword expansion with the Machinist and Astrologian. They also introduced a new race, and a look at what will be included in the expansion’s collector’s edition. [Thanks, Game Jouhou]

The new playable race is called “Au Ra,” and they’re characterized by their pair of unique curved horns that grow from their heads. Their bodies are partially covered in scaled skin, so they’re kind of have some dragon-like features going on, including a tail.

 

As shown in the above images, the male Au Ra are more on the bigger and muscular side, while the design concept for the female Au Ra is to have them be elegant and mysterious.

 

They hail from the eastern continent of Othard. Some of you players may have seen Yugiri in the story of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and as you may already know, she’s also an Au Ra (and not a Viangaa as previously joked about.)
