This week, an old game called Future Cop L.A.P.D is making its way to PSOne Classics. The game’s title sounds terribly boring and I don’t know how many of our readers will even have heard of it, but it’s a game I personally put dozens of hours into as a kid.
In Future Cop, you play as a heavily-equipped police mech that can transform into a faster hover bike form. The game is set in a futuristic setting, and in story mode, your job is to help eliminate crime. You can play the game’s story mode either in single player or co-op and there’s a bunch of different stages to play in, each with their own objectives. Along the way, you can find new weapons to outfit your mech with.
In addition to the story mode, there’s a second mode called Presinct Assault, which is entirely different. This is a mix between real-time strategy and defense. Two opposing players are given a base and try to take over defense turrets scattered across the map. As you do this, you also create offensive units and attempt to break through the enemy’s defenses into their base. Presinct Assault can either be played against the CPU or a second player, and this is the mode that really tends to make you play away the hours.
Aside from Future Cop L.A.P.D, there’s another game available on PSOne Classics this week, too. Dark…something? Dunno, might be cool, I guess.
