The original post includes a picture depicting a drawing of Kiyoko, the leader of The Espers, a group of children with psychic powers and paranormal abilities that appear in the Akira series. One of Kiyoko’s many abilities include precognitive powers. The drawing is located in the message board at the Akira Cel Exhibition in Osaka, which ended on October 24, 2023.

Japanese text accompanies the drawing of Kiyoko, and it translates to “I saw in a dream that my manga author friend was drawing a new comic book.” Meanwhile, Otomo himself wrote a caption alongside the image that reads “Kiyoko’s precognitive dream comes true.” There are no details on what type of new manga Katsuhiro Otomo is currently working on.

Aside from his work as the Akira author, Katsuhiro Otomo’s last work on a manga is the 2012 one-shot entry in his 1980’s series. Kibun Wa Mou Senso. That roughly translates to The Mood is Already of War. In recent years, the artist has been focusing on writing and directing the anime film adaptation of his 2001 manga Orbital Era.

Another manga artist that recently communicated his progress through social media is Hunter x Hunter author Yoshihiro Togashi. At the beginning of October 2023, the artist posted his progress on the manga for the first time since March 2023.
