One of the earliest games to be based on the Aliens franchise was Alien Breed, developed for the Amiga in 1991 by Team17, the developer best known for the Worms series. It was a top-down shooter that could be played by one or two players.

This morning, Team17 announced that they’re porting Alien Breed to iOS devices as a universal app. The iOS version will include three different sets of maps from the original Amiga game, from Alien Breed Special Edition, and a new Alien Breed Convergence campaign with four new levels.

The game will also allow you to switch between original Amiga graphics and a new retina-display visuals, and will support the Ion iCade and Gametel Controller. An in-game store will allow for the purchase of aids such as extra ammunition and so on.
