Ashen is an action RPG of unexpected friendships, with players finding other online characters who may be willing to help them as they wander its open, low-poly world.

Ashen has been designed with co-op in mind, so players can expect some ruthless enemies and dangers lurking in the dark, and in numbers that will mean they really need some help to survive. This is because the game will toss players into the same game as they both explore the world, finding each other at random and forging temporary bonds where they agree to help one another through the hostile environments and deep caverns and dungeons.

Together, players will stand a chance against the game’s brutal foes, and can help ensure they survive another day in the lethal wastelands. Even with a partner, creatures like a colossal, dangerous mermaid, as well as the game’s many other bosses, may prove to be a lot of trouble. Even so, there will be ways for truly talented players to tackle this journey alone, but the game is designed for two, meaning those players will find themselves in some challenging moments.
