Atari and horse racing go hand in hand?

Poor Atari, barely surviving on licensed properties and retro remakes. The latest license to join the Atari family is the Fédération Equestre Internationale, the umbrella license to make official equestrian sport games. How does Atari feel about this?

“Atari is very proud to have won this license, something the FEI have not awarded before and which is testament the high quality games we will be bringing to market,” said Mathias Hautefort, Executive Vice President of publishing and production, Atari. “The FEI is the world’s authority on horsesport and this license gives Atari the opportunity to communicate directly to millions of horse enthusiasts across Europe through the organisation’s network.”

 

Instead of working on Earthworm Jim for the PSP, Atari plans on creating horse sport and lifestyle games across multiple platforms with their new license. Will Atari make Nintenpony in the future? Probably. Dragon Ball Z: Chichi’s Equestrian Challenge? At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it.
