Namco Bandai has always taken care of Q Entertainment in Japan, but in North America Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s studio flipped between Ubisoft, Namco Bandai and Buena Vista Games. Moving forward Q Entertainment will work with Atari and their first joint project is Q3 (pronounced Qubed), a compilation disc of three Q Entertainment Xbox Live Arcade games. Q3 is basically a retail release of Lumines Live, Every Extend Extra Extreme, and Rez HD on a single disc. Metoes Wars which is scheduled to come out on Xbox Live Arcade this winter will not be included as part of Q3. Atari plans to shuttle Q3 into stores worldwide in spring 2009.

Atari will also take care of Q Entertainment’s first Wii game tentatively titled QJ. No other details about QJ have been revealed.

How does Mizuguchi feel about working with Atari? Despite Atari’s financial problems he seems proud. “We are honored to be working with Atari and for myself, personally, the company that brought Pong, the very first video game I ever played when I was 11 years old. Since that day, I have been inspired in many ways to create a new type of entertaining experience. ‘Rez HD’, ‘Lumines Live!’ and ‘E4’, collectively called Q3, represent our version of music interactive entertainment and we hope it will provide the same kind of excitement to a new audience as Pong did for me many years ago. We are grateful for the support we have received from the Atari team as well as those who have supported the Atari culture.”
