Atelier Ryza 2 got a December 3, 2020 release date for its PS4 and Switch versions in Japan. The PC version will release in January 2021. Koei Tecmo and Gust shared the latest with introductions for Tao, Bos, and the new character Serri.
Ryza and friends will explore countless ruins in their next adventure. The game will introduce a new adventure tool that allows you to search and explore dungeons with new actions.
After acquiring the Emerald Band, Ryza will gain a new action that allows her to swing from one spot to another using.
One of the new action is the ability to swim. That means you’ll get to explore water surfaces and go underwater to find various materials, or even discover new dungeons. Gust is also emphasizing the characters’ “wet appearances” after stepping out of the water, so look forward to that as well.
This time around, Ryza’s new base is the Royal Capital Ashra-am Baird. Things are quite different here, compared to life at Kurken Island, with tall buildings and a surprising amount of people. The vast royal capital is divided into multiple sections, each with its own scenery. Ryza will also have her own Atelier, so she’ll get to craft to her heart’s content.
Ryza’s childhood friend Tao is also studying abroad at the royal capital academy. It’s been three years since the two have seen each other, so he’s grown quite a bit. Ryza also meet sBos who helps her find her way around the Capital. She also runs into a woman who reminds her of a certain someone she knew.
Check out the character details below:
Tao Mongarten (CV: Junta Terashima, previously Yui Kondo)
Tao is Ryza’s childhood friend who went through a growth spurt and is now a student at the Capital. He went there together with Bos and has been working hard at his studies every day to become a scholar. He has grown a lot in height and no longer looks like a bullied kid. While he still loves to read, he’s been spending more time outdoors since there’s a lot more to see and do at the Royal Capital.
Serri Glose (CV: Yukiyo Fujii)
She’s an Oren just like Lila Decyrus in Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout. She’s traveling to collect the seeds of various plants for a certain objective. After meeting Ryza and friends, she proposes working together to explore dungeons. She has a gentle personality and is kind to everyone, but seems to be a little distant towards Ryza.
Bos Brunnen (CV: Yohei Azakami)
Bos is a former bully who is now studying as a student. He’s known Ryza and Tao since they were kids. He no longer has ill feelings towards Ryza and friends, especially Tao, with whom he spends time studying together at the Royal Capital. He’s studying hard to become a suitable heir to the Brunnen family. However, he’s still just as foul-mouthed as ever.
Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy will release in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on December 3, 2020. The game will release for PC via Steam in January 2021. Koei Tecmo is aiming for a worldwide simultaneous release.
