For April Fool’s Day, Edmund McMillen announced in a blog post that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth would be coming to the New Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Xbox One. It was obviously a joke but on April 2nd both Edmund and head of Nicalis (the game’s publisher) Tyrone Rodriguez shared Vines of the game actually running on a New 3DS, refuting the joke to reveal that, in fact, Isaac would be coming to those platforms.

You can see the Vines of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth running on a New 3DS on on Edmund’s Twitter account, as well as Tyrone’s feed – here and here. As you can see, the top screen shows the main view of the game while the bottom screen displays the mini-map.

As part of the April Fool’s gag, Edmund claimed that he had to censor Isaac in order to get it approved by Nintendo – the game was previously rejected by Nintendo for its platforms due to its religious themes and mature content. This was the only part of the announcement that isn’t actually true, as Rodriguez revealed that the game “is not censored in any way” on 3DS, Wii U, or Xbox One.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth should be coming to these new platforms “soonish.”
