Edge of Atlantis is a virtual reality action RPG experience, one where players will be able to wander a full world of magic, monsters, and adventure.
Edge of Atlantis is a fabled sword, one that can cut space itself, but it has been stolen by an evil wizard that has sealed the world of Atlantis in a time loop. Players will need to follow the wizard to various worlds, from boiling deserts to monster-filled fields, dogging the sorcerer until they can retrieve the stolen sword.
Players can choose from several different weapons, depending on how they wish to approach enemies. They can use close-ranged melee weapons to hack and slash monsters, watching the creatures’ behavior to learn when to block and parry using actual motions. Players can also fling spells to strike at range, slamming them with rocks, fire, or other destructive elements. Not every class the player can choose from can use all of the game’s weapons effectively, though, so players will have to think on which class to take on.
Players won’t know what to expect throughout Edge of Atlantis, as the procedurally-generated worlds will also feature dynamic events, making for surprise quests or monster hordes at any given moment. Players will gain levels and gain access to stronger magic and enchanted weapons as they fight and survive, though, encouraging to push through each curve the game throws at them.
Edge of Atlantis offers an optional permadeath mode, should players want a bigger challenge. However, should players die on this run, they do have the option to rescue the lost save through doing a quest on a new character.
Edge of Atlantis is currently raising funding on Kickstarter, and is projected to release on Early Access in September.
