At the Microsoft Tokyo Game Show press briefing the date for Blue Dragon was spilled, it is coming out on December 7. Blue Dragon is the first RPG Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has worked on since he left Square-Enix. Other members of the dream design team include Akira Toriyama of Dragonball fame who worked on the concept art, Artoon’s production tools for the cartoon-like world and Nobuo Uematsu the composer of the Final Fantasy series. Microsoft has been putting a lot of faith in Blue Dragon to draw in the Japanese market. To get a 360 plus the game in gamers hands they are releasing a bundle pack with an Xbox 360 core system plus the game is going on sale for 29,800 yen ($254).
It’s obvious that Microsoft is releasing the core system instead of the pro package to bring down the price of the bundle. However, without the hard drive how are gamers going to save their progress? RPGers are forced to run out and buy a memory card at the same time or pick up a pricey hard drive. The plan still might work, but it would have probably better if they just threw in the hard drive.
