Nintendo and Microsoft laid out their first party trump cards to draw the youth demographic to their consoles. Wii Sports was a smash hit, but while critically acclaimed Viva Pinata ended up not being a purple cow for Microsoft. Next month Sony is about to place their kid-friendly game Playstation 3 game in Japan. It’s not an action oriented game where you swing a laser sword and it has nothing to do with Ape Escape. In Boku no Natsuyasumi 3 (My Summer Vacation 3) players become a kid on his summer vacation in the countryside that catches and battles insects. What makes Boku no Natsuyasumi 3 stand out is it looks gorgeous, unlike other low budget games designed for kids. See the trailer and post up your thoughts.
After watching the trailer, I think this is the one Playstation 3 title heading to the market that can pull in Animal Crossing addicts and casual gamers. The real question is will that audience pay up to buy a shiny new Playstation 3?
