We previously wrote about Famitsu’s early hands-on experience with Final Fantasy Exporer’s upcoming demo, which showcased the game’s character and monster creation. Next, is a look at various boss fights that will be in the demo, also from Famitsu’s preview of the demo.

The first video demonstrates the fight against the Red Dragon boss, where a Ranger goes out solo on the volcano map. After taking on some small-fry enemies, the player makes the encounter at around 0:45.

The Red Dragon seems to continuously perform tackling moves in addition to fire breath attacks, so it looks like as long as you keep your distance and stay away from its face, you’ll be fine.

Unlike the Red Dragon, Ifrit is serious business when it comes to fire. He can perform all kinds or ranged attacks in addition to area-of-effect jumps. The fight starts at the 1:09 mark of the video, where the solo Explorer goes in with a few monster allies.

It doesn’t take long for the monster allies to fall, so the player is left playing a run-and-gun tactic while running away from the scary lord of inferno. However, it looks like you can basically kite Ifrit and not have too much trouble, but it seems like it could be a little time-consuming.

The next video shows the fight against Shiva. Once again, the player has a party of a couple monsters, but it looks like they also get eliminated with ease. Shiva uses all kinds of attacks, and it seems like she has something for close and long-ranged opponents.

Once the monsters come back, it doesn’t take long for them to get knocked out, and to top it off, the player gets incapacitated by her Diamond Dust ability. Fighting solo against her looks like it will require a lot of patience, so it would be ideal to fight her with other human players.

Finally, this player transforms into Cloud and uses his Omnislash ability, along with some help from Lightning, who shows off some of her speedy movements and ranged attacks.

Final Fantasy Explorers will release in Japan on December 18, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.
