Square Enix has been integrating their games with their Square Enix Members program in Japan. The 3rd Birthday was the first title to do this with a digital stamp card. Players who wrote journal entries and post on a forum could access the Lightning costume faster.
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy has a members achievement system too. The first thing you have to do is register your Bravely Default game on the site, which gives you a “Bravely Code” and a Hi-Potion to use in the game. Post in the Bravely Default members forum and you’ll get a status alignment curing Panacea. Want the Onion Knight costume for Tiz? That reward is tied to the Facebook job fortune telling app.
Other achievements are tied to in game events. Defeating certain monsters, presumably bosses, rewards players with items like Phoenix Down and Teleport Stones. Passing an event point and you’ll get an Antarctic Wind. Some of the rewards net players Turbo Ethers and precious Megalixirs. It’s an interesting idea, but so far Square Enix’s overseas branches have not used the members reward system yet. Right now, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy hasn’t even been announced for other regions.
