Bubsy Makes His Return To Videogames For The First Time In 21 Years

Bubsy the cat, whose series hasn’t had a game in 21 years, is making a return in Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back. The last official game the platforming mascot appeared in was 1996’s Bubsy 3D for the PlayStation. You can check out the official announcement trailer below.

Notably, the original publisher of the Bubsy games, Accolade, has made a return as well after becoming defunct following their last game Test Drive Off-Road 3 released in October 1999. The publisher was later acquired by French publisher Infogrames in 1999 before the Bubsy series’ rights ended up at Tommo Inc. With Accolade now back, the company says it plans to revive several of its lost IPs.

In Accolade’s official announcement and reveal of the upcoming Bubsy game, the company stated the following:

“Accolade returns with classic all new, reimagined games from its vast catalog and brand new franchises that will thrill anyone from nine to 90 that calls themselves a gamer. Get ready for the return of iconic games and franchises like Busby, Hardball, Slave Zero, Deadlock, Eradicator, Redline and more!”

Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back will release for the PC via Steam and PlayStation 4 this autumn.
