Build Divide Original Anime and TCG Announced

Aniplex announced the Build Divide project, which will consist of a TCG and an original anime Build Divide -#000000 (Code Black) -. The concept for Build Divide originates from Homura Kawamoto and Hikaru Muno. Kawamoto is the creator of Kakegurui and Muno, his brother, helped to pen the Kakegurui light novels. Animation studio Liden Films and game-design company Yuhodo are also involved. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]

The story of Build Divide -#000000 (Code Black) – follows Teruto Kurabe in the city of Shin-Kyoto, where one’s ability as a Build Divide TCG player determines your status. There is a rumor in Shin-Tokyo that if you defeat the “King,” you can have any wish granted. To do so, you must participate in the tournament “Rebuild.” The anime will have two cours. The first cour will start in October 2021, and the second will start in April 2022.

Liden Films, who is in charge of the anime, worked on Cells at Work! Code Black and Berserk in the past. It is also the studio working on the upcoming Saiyuki Reload: Zeroin anime. In addition, Liden Films worked on the Cardfight!! Vanguard movie, and Cardfight!! Vanguard is one of the TCGs designed by company Yuhodo. Yuhodo is the company in charge of designing the Build Divide card game.

The first round of Build Divide TCG items include:

  • The Everlasting Overture of Battle (Booster pack)
  • The Witch Who Laughs in Darkness (Starting deck)
  • The Beast King Who Rages in Crimson (Starting deck)

Build Divide -#000000 (Code Black) – will air in October 2021 and the TCG will start appearing in stores in October as well. There is currently no news if and when cards and show will arrive in territories outside Japan.
