Can English of the Dead teach kanji too?

On one hand Sega is milking the House of the Dead 2 dry with a Nintendo Wii reissue and Typing of the Dead 2. On the other, the concept for English of the Dead is downright brilliant. Zombie Shiki Eigo Ryoku Sosei Jutsu English of the Dead (Zombie Formula English Power Resurrection Art English of the Dead) is a retooled version of Typing of the Dead 2 set to come out on the home for training games, the Nintendo DS. Instead of typing, players write words on the touch screen to “shoot” zombies. The system essentially drills gamers like a series of flash cards, only these flash cards are stuck on flesh eating zombies.

While the English of the Dead probably isn’t high on anyone’s import list consider this thought, can English of the Dead boost Japanese literacy? I can’t imagine this helping anyone starting from scratch, but the English of the Dead might give a student learning Japanese a boost in kanji recognition. Empirically association should work both ways as long as players pay careful attention to the kanji. Anyone brave enough to try this when English of the Dead debuts in the spring?
