After a few years’ work, solo developer Ácido Cinza has finished his retro-style 2D action arcade game Cataegis: The White Wind and released it on Steam.

it has you playing as the titular enforce, Cataegis, who belongs to the ‘Order of Caeliger’, and attempts to take on the self-proclaimed deity Ishtar and her followers.

While Cataegis does act as a throwback to 8-bit side-scrolling games it doesn’t have the clunkiness of those older titles. In fact, Cinza seems to have taken from the fluid and frantic motions of anime to make the game fast-paced and exciting.

To this end, you can double jump, slide around with ease, and even dual wield weapons while running through the levels. As well as focusing on dynamic action it also has a dynamic storyline that has you leading up to one of a possible 20 endings based on the choices you make.
