Chameleos, the chameleon-like Elder Dragon that originally appeared in Monster Hunter 2 will be back in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, after missing out on the action in the last two generations of the series. The official website shows us more of what he’s like now.
It is said that not much information is actually known about Chameleos, and due to its ability to camouflage itself, not many Hunters have come across this Elder Dragon.
By hiding inside the fog, Chameleos can attack from a long distance in stealth-like fashion using its long tongue to strike its prey. To make matters worse, it can also use poison attacks to its advantage, by spreading out some of its poisonous fog.
Due to its dangerous nature, even the guild rates the Chameleos with a very high degree of risk for Hunters aiming to take it down.
The above image shows Chameleos hiding itself using its camouflage ability, which he follows up by suddenly reappearing and attacking his target. Its powerful poison isn’t like your average Wroggi breath, so you’ll definitely want to pack some extra antidotes.
The poison attacks will also stick to the ground, so positioning yourself will be another factor in the fight against Chameleos. And beware, as it can steal items from you using its long tongue as well. Let’s just hope he won’t steal too many valuable antidotes during your fight!
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is slated for release in Japan on October 11, 2014 and in early 2015 in the West for Nintendo 3DS.
