Klonoa is back. Bandai Namco and Nintendo have launched Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series, and the game is now available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series consoles. It collects Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and its sequel Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil in a single-purchase package.

As seen in the trailer, the Klonoa titles collected in the release are enhanced remasters of the original releases. They pair the classic gameplay of Klonoa and Klonoa 2 with higher-resolution assets and graphical features. They also have some additional features for newer players, like tutorials, unlocked difficulty options, and two-player co-op play. An additional hard difficulty and speedrun-oriented “Stopwatch Mode” are also available.

Klonoa was originally a PlayStation-exclusive series developed by Namco. The games are side-scrolling platformers that make extensive use of 2.5D-style graphics. They’re set in Phantomile, a land powered by the dreams people have when sleeping. Klonoa investigates threats with his buddy Huepow, a ring spirit and the key to most of Klonoa’s powers and abilities. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile received a sequel on the PS2 in 2001 (Klonoa 2) and was remade in 2008 for the Nintendo Wii. Both games are collected in the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. Other franchise sequels and spin-offs, like the Game Boy Advance-based Moonlight Museum, Empire of Dreams, and Legendary Star Medal, are not included. In some cases, they remain Japan-exclusive as well.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A playable demo is available for the console editions.
