The Battle of Giants (or Combat of Giants as it is known outside America) series is a dinosaur fighting game with exploration elements. At E3 2010, Ubisoft announced a bunch of Nintendo 3DS games, and among them was a 3DS port of Battle of Giants: Dinosaur Strike, originally developed for Wii.

In the following months, however, Ubisoft announced another original Battle of Giants game, titled Combat of Giants: Dinosaur 3D, which appears to be an original 3DS game. So, whatever happened to Dinosaur Strike?

Perhaps these screens can shed some light on the subject. The screenshot to the left is from the originally announced Dinosaur Strike. The one on the right is from the newly announced Dinosaur 3D. Notice the similarities, aside from the complete texture swap and the T-rex to the left?

It looks like what was originally Dinosaur Strike got a bit of a facelift. Or perhaps Ubisoft just re-used certain assets to create a new game with. We’re not sure. Amusingly, it also looks a lot grittier and browner now. Go figure. You can find older screens of Dinosaur Strike on the 3DS here.
