Cowboy Bebop Yoko Kanno Composed ‘Blue’ Song Remake

Cowboy Bebop Composer Yoko Kanno made a remake of the iconic song “Blue.” The original track was featured as the ending of the last episode of anime series, and up-and-coming artist Maya performed the vocals for the remake.

Yoko Kanno remade the song in collaboration with automobile manufacturer Honda for the company’s commercial “Move.” The remake was originally teased in the 60-second commercial released on late January 2024. The vocals of the new version of the Cowboy Bebop ending theme “Blue” are sung by 16-year-old musician Maya. The artist shared her participation in the remake of the song through a video posted on her TikTok account, where she uploads covers of popular English and Japanese songs.

The original “Blue” song was performed by singer Mai Yamane, and it appears as the ending theme for the last episode of the Cowboy Bebop anime series, released over 25 years ago. As a reminder, the 25th Anniversary Project of Cowboy Bebop was announced on June 2023.

The original Cowboy Bebop series started broadcasting in Japan on April 1998. It is available to watch on streaming services like Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix. A live-action adaptation is also available on Netflix.
