Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is hitting the PlayStation Network and Steam on September 28th. On the same day, the Xbox 360 version will be patched (free) with an online co-op mode and voice chat. From then on, Crystal Dynamics will periodically release additional content packs for the game for the rest of the year.

There’ll be five of these packs in total, starting in October. The first three packs will be content expansions, with new areas and puzzles. The next two are a little more interesting.

The final two packs will allow you to play as characters other than Lara and Totec. While we wouldn’t hope for Final Fantasy characters, anyone from Eidos’s roster is a safe bet. Spencer and I thought of Gex (Gex), Kain and Raziel (Legacy of Kain), since they’d fit right in.

…although, who’s to say they wouldn’t toss Kane and Lynch in there, too?
