Death end re;Quest Has Instantaneous Game Overs Depending On Player Actions

Compile Heart recently uploaded edited Let’s Play videos of Death end re;Quest, showing off the beginning of the game, and how Shiina obtains the ability to use Glitch form. At the end of the second video, the developers show off how certain player actions can lead to an early Game Over.

At the start of the video, Shiina is surrounded by bugs that make her throw up a Bug Arachne being, that eats other bugs and feeds the power into Shiina, letting her turn into Glitch Style. After the battle, it is revealed that Shiina does not remember her actions in Glitch Style.

 

Near the end of the video, the developer lets Lily run into the boss room, then tries to go back to save before the boss fight. However, this triggers a cutscene where Lily is killed and Shiina is also imminently about die, which triggers a Game Over screen.

Death;end re;Quest will release in Japan on April 12, 2018 for PlayStation 4.
