The debut will feature the reveal of Dejiko’s 3D character model and background. Artist and Di Gi Charat series creator Koge-Donbo fully supervised the creation of both the character model and background illustrations. Fans will be able to watch the debut via the Di Gi Charat Reiwa YouTube channel, which will open at a later date.
Notably, Broccoli states that the YouTube debut will be a limited-time “challenge” for Dejiko. The debut is part of the larger Di Gi Charat Reiwa project that includes a new mini anime, collaborations, and art exhibitions. Furthermore, Broccoli plans to announce more projects sometime in 2022. The next Di Gi Charat announcement will be on February 4, 2022.
Dejiko became the mascot for Gamers, the retail division of production company Broccoli, back in 1998. 2022 marks the 24th anniversary of the Di Gi Charat franchise. The number 24 is important as it can translate to Dejiko’s iconic expression “Nyo” in Japanese. Previously, Broccoli has been involved in games such as Jack Jeanne and Kamigami no Asobi.
Dejiko will make her official YouTuber debut on January 22, 2022, at 12 p.m. Japan Time. The debut will go live on the Di Gi Charat Reiwa YouTube channel, which will open at a later date.
