Devs ‘Wanted’ to Make a Resident Evil 4 Remake Chainsaw Controller

In the latest Game Informer rapid-fire interview, Resident Evil 4 Remake Producer Yoshiaki Kirabayoshi and Director Yasuhiro Ampo discussed various serious and silly elements related to the game. The chainsaw (and Chainsaw Man) came up a few times. As part of that, Kirabayoshi noted there was a desire to revisit the peripheral released alongside the original game and said, “We wanted to do one.” [Thanks, Game Informer!]

Here’s the exact quote from Kirabayoshi. It references the special chainsaw controller released for both the GameCube and PS2 versions of Resident Evil 4.

We wanted to do one, but we are already putting everything we have into development of the game. Maybe we can look into that some other time if there’s a future opportunity.

You can hear the response to the question as to whether a Resident Evil 4 Remake chainsaw controller could appear at the 5:11 mark of the Game Informer interview below. Both of them also noted they never used a chainsaw in real life before.

Ampo also said that he thought the Resident Evil 4 chainsaw men would win in a fight with Chainsaw Man, due to there being multiple ones in the game.

Resident Evil 4 remake will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on March 24, 2023.
