Bandai Namco recently shared a big batch of new screenshots for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory and they’ve updated the game’s official website with more info on its story and new character Erika Mishima.

Set in the near future Japan. Thanks to advancement in technology, users can now access the Internet, visually and sensibly, making cyberspace just another part of everyday life.

While strong security has protected cyberspace for a while, as it became a bigger part of everyday lives, so did the crimes that came with it.

Among the crimes, there are hackers who use special virus programs to cause severe damage to the digital world. These virus programs have their own AI, the ability to absorb information, and evolve according to their surroundings.

 

These special virus programs are known as the “Digital Monsters.”

 

Erika Mishima

Erika Mishima is a girl member of the hacker team known as “Hudie.” After losing her parents in a traffic accident several years ago, she’s been living along with her older brother.

She’s extremely shy of strangers, and tends to shut herself in “Erika’s Room,” or the V.I.P. room of their base of operations, “Net Café Hudie.”

Due to a head injury from the traffic accident, her brain was linked to a special server of the EDEN Network, enabling for processing to disperse functions of the brain and suppress the load. Thanks to having her brain linked to an EDEN server, Erika gained genius hacking abilities.

 

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory releases in Japan in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The game releases in early 2018 in the West.
