Even though Dissdia: Final Fantasy is a shoe in for Square Enix to bring over it’s nice hear official confirmation about a North American release. The wait for Dissida: Final Fantasy won’t be too long either. Square Enix has Dissidia: Final Fantasy slotted for a “mid-year 2009” release.
So, we’re talking summer-ish? That makes sense since it usually takes Square Enix USA six months to localize a game after it comes out in Japan. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII came out in Japan in September 2007 and North America got it in March 2008. We probably won’t get any Dissidia: Final Fantasy potion soft drinks, though. Instead Square Enix has a set of Dissidia: Final Fantasy Trading Arts planned. Volume one includes Cloud, Squall, Zidane, and Tidus.
Why are all the Final Fantasy characters fighting? This is what Square Enix says about the story.
Cosmos, the goddess of harmony. Chaos, the god of discord. Reigning from distant realms, the two gods had gathered warriors from all lands to lead them in savage war.
Cosmos and Chaos were of equal strength. It was believed the conflict would last forever. However, the balance is now broken.
Those who answered Chaos’s call created an inexhaustible force. And under vicious attack without relent, the warriors fighting for Cosmos started to fall one by one. The conflict that has continued for eons is now about to end in Chaos’s favor.
The world has been torn asunder, sinking into a vortex of disorder. As for the few surviving warriors … their fates have yet to be determined.
