Jump detailed a bit more about Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi’s battle system. Like other Dragon Ball fighting games, players can use a mix of melee attacks and energy blasts.
Each character brings their signature moves to battle as special attacks. You can defend against these powerful moves using the defense reaction system. When two special attacks collide an event triggers where both players have to mash a button (in this case triangle). Whoever fires off more button presses lands their attack. In other words, it’s button tug of war.
Jump also introduced the strike move system, which are essentially this game’s form of quick time events. Namco Bandai will release the game in Japan this winter. Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi will make its debut in North America on October 25.
