An established feature in select Dragon Quest games is the ability to collect monsters so they can fight alongside the hero. While Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below is a personality-centric event, the latest trailer released from Square Enix shows that monsters will still join the 12 playable, human characters in battle.

While fighting monsters in Dragon Quest Heroes, a Monster Medal might drop upon their defeat. However, unlike the Monster Medals earned in Dragon Quest III, they aren’t used in a bonus dungeon. These Monster Medals allow the player to summon that monster once to aid the party at any time on the battlefield.

The new Dragon Quest Heroes trailer also talks a bit more about the 12 playable characters. It confirms that, as in many Omega Force game, players will be able to acquire new equipment for characters. Also, each stage allows the player to take a four person party in for the fight.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below will come to the PlayStation 4 on October 13.
