I got my copy of the third game in the Phoenix Wright series and blasted through the first case. Similar to Infernal Affairs III, Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations jumps between the past and the future of the series. In the first case you play as Mia Fey, Phoenix’s mentor, when she was a rookie defense attorney with a 0-1 record. The defendant in the case is none other than Phoenix! He is on trial for murdering Doug Swallow, a pharmacy student at Ivy University. The connection between him and Doug is Dahlia Hawthorne. For eight months she has been Phoenix’s girlfriend and before that she was with Doug. I don’t want to spoil the case, but sound out Dahlia’s name. Capcom is at it again with another clever pun.
After you beat the first case, you get to play Phoenix again. This time the case doesn’t have to deal with murder. Phoenix’s goal is to track down a stolen artifact on display at Lords & Taylor Lordily Tailor hat is on loan from the Fey family. If you played the second game you will recognize the heirloom instantly since it played a key role in one of the episodes. Also you get to see Adrian Andrews from the first second Phoenix Wright game who is in charge of security for the event. There are new characters too notable “Ace Detective” Luke Atmey who looks like a skinny version of the Penguin and Mask DeMasque who likes to steal expensive works of art.
More to come after the second case…
