While SaGa may not be a core brand for Square Enix anymore, the series racked up ten million units in sales. Emperors SaGa probably won’t bring the series back to its open ended world routes, but at least it’s a new entry in the series. The last brand new SaGa title was Unlimited SaGa and that came out a decade ago.

Emperors SaGa turns players into a emperor who has to save the world from an unprecedented crisis. The game has a card battle system that defies common logic and artwork from Tomomi Kobayashi. She drew Andromache, a super rare card you can get by registering for Emperors SaGa before the game’s launch.

Square Enix and mobile phone game goliath GREE plan to release Emperors SaGa at the end of September.
