At E3 2017, we got to check out Etrian Odyssey V from Atlus USA, and its new Hound class that lets you summon wolves and falcons, and it was definitely one of our favorite new additions to the dungeon RPG.

When playing as a Hound, you can summon a falcon or hound for 25MP, and they also come with their own unique skills. The falcon is able to provide help with auto-attacks while the hound can provide more support by licking the party member with the lowest amount of health for heals.

When either of these companions are summoned, they act as an additional party members, so that also brings in some extra meat to your party. During our time spent with the game, we also learned that you can add two extra characters to your party that stay around for future battles. Think of them as your benchwarmers for exploring labyrinths. This new feature will also come in handy, especially while challenging higher level dungeons where you might need all the extra help you can get.

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth releases in Fall 2017 in North America and Winter 2017 in Europe for Nintendo 3DS.
