Fairy Tail Creator Hiro Mashima Is Making a Game

Fairy Tail manga artist Hiro Mashima is making his own video game. Mashima was the subject of a new episode of Season 3 in a YouTube series that follows the author taking on the challenge of game development. [Thanks, PR Times!]

In previous seasons, Mashima dipped his toes on learning about Unreal Engine 5 and 3D games development. Season 1 saw Mashima learning to create 3D environments and levels using the games engine, while Season 2 had the artist creating original 3D characters using computer graphics software Blender.

Kodansha released the first episode of Season 3 on the Kodansha Creatorsā€™ Lab YouTube channel. In this new season, Mashima will start to wrap up development of his game. The video is only available with Japanese captions, and you can take a look at it here:

Hiro Mashima talked in the past about trying video game development as a hobby. The artist started development on an Edens Zero game using RPG Maker back in December 2021, titled Rebecca to Kikai no Yōkan. Mashima released the game for free on PC on March 16, 2022.

Hiro Mashima is the author of famous manga series such as Fairy Tail, Rave Master, Edens Zero, and most recently Dead Rock. He has also worked as character designer and illustrator in various games, and will help design the characters of the upcoming Project Magia.
