A group of fans have been working on their own Sonic game based on the Adventures and Heroes games. It runs in what’s described as a “very advanced enhancement of the BlitzSonic engine” and is called Sonic World.

The team says that they have tried their best to “bring uniqueness and fun with a crazy amount of 30+ playable characters”  while focusing on mixing “the best of Sonic games altogether along with new ideas.”

As part of this effort, many of the stages in the Adventures and Heroes series have been remastered in Sonic World. The video you can watch above shows Sonic World’s version of Metal Harbor, which was originally in Sonic Adventures 2.

This stage is part of Release 6, which was the latest and biggest update of Sonic World so far, arriving on September 8th. It added new mechanics, stages, and even Chao Garden to play around in – you can download it on the Downloads page.
