Final Fantasy XIV Payment

FFXIV Method Payment Changes Expanded to Drop Discover

Eorzea no longer takes Discover. Square Enix issued an update to its earlier guidance about planned changes to the accepted payment methods for Final Fantasy XIV. According to a post added to the Lodestone community site, the FFXIV payment changes have been updated to include Discover among the discontinued options. The reduction in FFXIV payment methods will take effect in late February 2023.

In a post titled “Important Notice About Purchases and Subscriptions Follow-up 1”, Square Enix updated the list of FFXIV payment changes. Where previously Discover was considered a valid option, it is now discontinued in North America and Europe, alongside JCB, Carte Bleue, and SEPA (or Sofort).

At the moment, the available FFXIV payment methods are:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • PayPal
  • Amazon Pay
  • Paysafecard

Square Enix reiterated that it hoped to reintroduce some of the discontinued FFXIV payment methods over time. However, those affected by the changes will want to seek alternative methods in the meantime. According to the original announcement, the FFXIV payment changes won’t  immediately affect users enrolled in a recurring subscription plan. However, those who wish to make changes or updates will have to enter a new payment method if their currently selected option was discontinued.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC.
