There’s no explanation for why the DDoS attacks hit the FFXIV servers. Square Enix only noted the issues began on May 6, 2024. It said that people in all data centers will be affected by the issue. This means that people who try to log in won’t be able to. Those who do manage to get into the game could find themselves having trouble playing or abruptly booted from it.

There’s no timeline yet for when the DDoS attack issues will resolve. The Lodestone in every region did alert people to the issue, however.

This comes ahead of multiple developments for the game. For example, the Letter from the Producer Live LXXXI will be held on May 16, 2024. That will go over the 7.0 new jobs and job adjustments. An updated Dawntrail Benchmark Tool is expected to launch at or after May 23, 2024. Not to mention the Dawntrail expansion itself is coming on July 2, 2024.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and Square Enix is working on the FFXIV servers following the DDoS attack on May 6, 2024. The Dawntrail expansion will arrive on July 2, 2024
