Final Fantasy XIV just kicked off its “Prelude in Violet” update Patch 4.4, and with it comes a bunch of new quests, raids, dungeons, and plenty of new items including fan-designed furniture and hairstyle.
Here are some highlights from the full patch notes:
New main scenario quests have been added
Quest: Sisterly Act
Lv: Disciple of War or Magic level 70
Location: The Rising Stones (X:6.1 Y:5.8)
NPC: Alisaie
Requirements: Players must first complete the main scenario quest “Emissary of the Dawn.”
Chronicles of a New Era quests have been added
- The Four Lords
Quest: The Fire-bird Down Below

Location: The Ruby Sea (X:27.8 Y:16.4)
NPC: Bunchin
Requirements: Players must first complete the Chronicles of a New Era quest “Tortoise in Time.”
Interdimensional Rift – Omega
Quest: In the Beginning, There Was Chaos
Lv: Disciple of War or Magic level 70
Location: Rhalgr’s Reach (X:13.4 Y:12.4)
NPC: Jessie
Requirements: Players must first complete the Chronicles of a New Era quest “Test World of Ruin.”
A new side story quest has been added – The Doman Enclave

Bonded couples may now renew their vows with anniversary ceremonies
Players can register the date engraved on their eternity rings at the Sanctum of the Twelve, allowing them to reaccept the quest “The Ties that Bind.”
* Players may only reaccept this quest on or after the day of their anniversary.
* Players may only undertake this quest for their anniversary once per year.
Registering an Anniversary
Players must form a party with their partner and, with eternity rings in their inventories, speak with Hawu Bajihri together at the Sanctum of the Twelve in the East Shroud (X:17.5 Y:18.4).
* In the event a player and their partner are in different time zones, it is possible their anniversaries may be set to different dates.
The Shifting Altars of Uznair have been added
Entering the Shifting Altars of Uznair
Should a portal appear when opening a treasure coffer found using a gazelleskin treasure map, it will lead to either the Lost Canals of Uznair or the Shifting Altars of Uznair. The destination will be chosen at random.

Progressing through the Shifting Altars of Uznair
Upon entering the instance, players will find an arcane sphere which must be used to perform an invocation. Doing so will trigger a roulette wheel, summoning forth one of several creatures.
A treasure chest will appear upon defeating the enemies summoned by the invocation. Only the player who opened the teleportation portal can access it. After claiming the contents of the treasure chest, the arcane sphere can be used again, for a total of five invocations.
New craftable items have been added to the company workshop

New aquarium fishes have been added
A new seed for flowerpots has been added – Arum Bulbs
A new GATE, Leap of Faith, has been added
The objective of this GATE is to reach the goal point by jumping to various platforms while also collecting cactuar trophies.
The GATE ends when time expires or players reach the goal point.
Participating in Leap of Faith
Players can register to participate by speaking with Sabotender Guia in the Gold Saucer (X:4.9 Y:4.8).
To register with a party, all party members must be present in the Gold Saucer when the party leader speaks with Sabotender Guia. However, any players who have already participated in the GATE at that particular time slot will be unable to repeat it.
* Players cannot enter using a cross-world party.
New prizes are available for purchase using MGP
The following additions and adjustments have been made to Performance actions:
- Sounds for the following instruments are now available:
- Timpani
- Bongo
- Bass Drum
- Snare Drum
- Cymbal
New emotes have been added
Players will receive a new emote upon registering the Final Fantasy XIV Companion App
Register your character in Final Fantasy XIV Companion to unlock the “tomestone” emote after you next log in to the game.
If you have already registered a character to the app, the emote will be unlocked when patch 4.4 is released.
* Premium Plan not required.
A new hairstyle based on a Final Fantasy XIV Hair Design Contest entry is now available
New dungeons have been added
- The Burn

Item Level Requirement: Average item level 340 or above
Party Size: Four players
Time Limit: 90 minutes
A new trial has been added
- Hells’ Kier
Level Requirement: Disciple of War or Magic level 70
Item Level Requirement: Average item level 355 or above
Party Size: Eight players
Time Limit: 60 minutes
Requirements

Hells’ Kier (Extreme)
Hells’ Kier (Extreme) can only be accessed via the Raid Finder.
* Item level restrictions do not apply when registering as a full party.

Party Size: Eight players
Time Limit: 60 minutes
Requirements
After completing Hells’ Kier, speak with the Wandering Minstrel in Kugane (X:11.6 Y:12.6).
A new raid dungeon, Omega: Alphascape, has been added

An icon has been added to the login screen in preparation for a future update that will allow character settings to be backed up and loaded on other systems
* The character settings backup feature will not be available as part of Patch 4.4.
This planned feature will allow data previously only stored locally to be uploaded to the server.
To use your character on another system, first back up your Character Settings data to the server, then download this data to the system you wish to use.
