Last month at Gamescom in Germany, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata had a few things to say about the Nintendo Switch, including seeming to hint at a possible Switch version of FFXV. Tabata later commented that the Switchās hardware was not capable of performing well with FFXVās Luminous Engine when they ran tests with it at Square Enix.
Now Tabata has spoken to Kotaku about the Switch a little more, and noted that, after his initial comments at Gamescom, a representative at Nintendo contacted him. However, Tabata would not reveal what they discussed. In addition to that, Tabata also had the following to say in regards to the Switch, mentioning that Square Enix believes that the console is āa great platformā and that they will be āopen to looking for opportunitiesā with it.
Here is Tabataās full comment:
āIt was just kind of a joke response. That said, we arenāt dismissing the hardware in any way. We believe itās a great platform, and weāre open to looking for opportunities. And if the opportunity presents itself, and thereās something we can do on that given platform, weād like to do it.ā
In addition to that, Tabata also discussed his own personal challenge of actually obtaining a Switch, something that many people wanting to get their hands on the console can relate to given its scarcity. He went on to say that he has many games already for the Switch, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2, heās just missing the console to play them on.
