Final Fantasy XVI PC Release Will Also Involve a Demo

In an interview with Game Informer, Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed the PC version is in development and will involve a demo. As a reminder, the original PS5 release of FFXVI also involved a demo. [Thanks, Game Informer!]

Yoshida noted that work on the PC version is in the “final stages of optimization.” He did confirm that a demo will be available for people to try. The interview didn’t note if it will be identical to the trial version for the PS5 and have save data that will carry over. However, he did tease a release window. When discussing when more announcements will come from Square Enix, he told Game Informer, “…it won’t be a year, it won’t be two years, it will probably be shorter than that.”

We’ve known Square Enix is working on a PC version of this entry for a while. Back before its release, marketing in November 2022 noted it would be exclusive to the console for at least six months. Then about six months later in May 2023, Yoshida noted a PC version would appear. DLC and PC news was also teased for that year.

More news about the Leviathan DLC will arrive soon, however, Square Enix confirmed there will be a PAX East 2024 panel with announcements about the add-on.

Final Fantasy XVI and its demo are currently available for the PS5, and a PC version is in development.
