Finally, a RPG where you can design custom item sprites

5bp is getting into plunging into other genres of video games in a big way. Aside from their bread and butter dating sims, 5pb has some Cave shooters and Item Getter in development. This Nintendo DS game emphasizes alchemy and item creation by allowing players to draw sprites for their custom created items. Items are made from over 1,000 kinds of raw materials that can be found in the RPG portion. Once you have the proper items you can utilize the Lyric Ring to push the story forward.

User generated items can be traded and distributed over Nintendo Wi-Fi. Each downloaded item retains the name and description you give it – a potential ESRB rating mess if Item Getter ever gets localized. Right now it’s just for Japan when it comes out in February 2009.
